Mini-symposium on submitting documents for the record temporary activities of overseas nongovernmental organizations was held

In order to better facilitate the cooperation between Chinese NGOs and overseas NGOs and promote further understanding of related laws and regulations, a mini-symposium on submitting documents for the record temporary activities of overseas nongovernmental organizations was held by China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO) on 4th July, 2017. Representatives of China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, China Women’s Development Foundation, All China Environment Federation, China Legal Aid Center, China Equipment Supervision Association and other NGOs attended the meeting.
 
Participants exchanged in-depth ideas regarding current situation, progress and challenges of the implementation of Law of the People’s Republic of China on Administrationof Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizationsin the Mainland of China and Guide for the Registration of Representative Offices and Submitting Documents for the Record Temporary Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizations issued by Ministry of Public Security. Participants also put forward recommendations on how to promote the role of civil society, ensure the continuity of public welfare project, define the concept of temporary activities, and provide support for the registration of temporary activities, etc.
 
Representative of Office of Overseas NGOs Administration, Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, provided analysis of related laws. He affirmed that overseas NGOs had made positive contribution to poverty alleviation, environmental protection and other economic and social welfare fields. Since Law of the People’s Republic of China on Administrationof Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizationsin the Mainland of China was implemented on 1stJanuary 2017, work of submitting documents for the record temporary activities of overseas nongovernmental organizations has beencarried out steadily. He also advised that organization may consult Office of Overseas NGOs Administration of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau about the temporary activities via phone.  
 
Mr. ZHAO Daxing, executive director of CANGO, thanked the Office of Overseas NGOs Administration of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau for providing the policy guidance. CANGO will enhance the work of submitting documents for the record of the temporary activities according to the law with the participating organizations.
