10th East Asia Civil Society Forum

Supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency China Office (JICA) ,NIWANO Peace Foundation, The Japan Foundation Center and other local organizations, “2019 East Asia Civil Society Forum” the topic of which was "A role of CSOs in aging society” was held Tokyo,Japan,  co-organized by Japan Association of Charity Organization(JACO), China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO), Korea Forum of Volunteerism (KVF) and Japan International Institute for Volunteering Research (JIVRI). More 70 experts, scholars and representatives from China, Japan and Korea participated in the meeting and shared the experiences.
Zhao Daxing, Vice Chairman of  CANGO; Takako Amemiya Chairman of JACO, Nam Young-Chan, Chairman of KVF,  Hiroshi Funjitani, Director of East·Middle East Department of JICA and other guests attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
Vice Chairman Zhao Daxing,congratulated the forum on its success for 10 times. He emphasized that China, Japan and Korea are close neighbors, with extensive economic, trade exchanges and deep historical roots. Strengthening exchanges and cooperation among the three countries is essential. East Asia  Civil Society Forum is good for non-governmental exchanges and expands consensus, mutual learning and common progress.The forum is significant to social organizations and community-building in China, Japan and Korea, as well as cooperation between civil society and the advancement in East Asia. He hoped that the forum could have a health development and play an more important role on people-to-people exchanges.
Professor Zhang Xingming, Executive Director of Research Center of the New Social Organization in Jiangnan University delivered keynote speech on the experience of Nan Jing community care for elder people-Time Bank. Liu Fei, Director of Chengdu Aiyouxi Opera Community Development Center shared a case in local community. Zhao Gang, Principal of The Family Education Research Institute,Northeast Normal University also shared his experience on education of older people. Participants from Japan and Korea showed their curiosities and made discussion with Chinese speakers.
Korea Representatives professor Keumryong Lee, professor Jeong Jonghwa and Shin Seongkuk delivered speeches. Japanese experts Hiroshi Takahashi, Keiko Shimizu Tomoshi Okuda also shared their reports from different aspects of how to face the aging society especially for NGOs.
During the meeting, the participants also visited the Tama-kusamura, Tokyo Seifuen and Tachibana Home. The participants unanimously expressed the hope that the Forum would demonstrate greater influence and sustainability and contribute more to people-to-people exchanges.
