Roundtable on “Promoting Peasants’ Participation in Sustainable Rural Community Development”

On 10th August, Huang Haoming and Wang Lu attended the roundtable “Promoting Peasants’ Participation in Sustainable Rural Community Development”, organized by Badi Foundation Beijing Representative Office.
Huang Haoming gave a speech on the topic of “Development of Rural Social Organizations and Development Strategies”. With CANGO’s several classic projects as example, he elaborated on the participatory development model in rural communities, analyzed the current development status and problems of social organizations in rural areas and provided some development strategies. The speech was well received by the present community workers.
Dr. Lori M. Noguchi, Director-General of Badi Foundation, and Zhang Xinguo, Deputy Secretary of China Charity Federation, delivered welcome remarks. Liu Sheng’an, Chief of the Foreign Capital Project Management Centre (FCPMC), State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, emphasized peasants’ dominant role in poverty alleviation and development in rural areas. Zhang Shidun, Mo Ting and Zhang Nian, leading figures in three rural social organizations from Ningxia, Yunnan and Hebei Province, shared experiences and achievements of their community work.
The exchange and discussions held made it clear that the work of social mobilization and communication in rural communities has to be strengthened. The development of sustainable projects in rural areas will be future prospect.
