Introduction

China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO) is a non-profit membership organization operating nationwide. CANGO was founded on July 22th 1992, and registered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs since 1993 (registration number 3340). By October 2016, CANGO had 136 members. In 2007, CANGO gained NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. In 2011, CANGO gained Consultative status of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change Negotiations. In 2010, CANGO had been honored the title of National Advanced Social Organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Since 2006, CANGO has gained the qualification of pre-tax deduction for donations by the Ministry of Finance and State Administration of Taxation. In 2016, CANGO gained grade 4A level in 2015 National Social Organization Public Welfare Community Assessment organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. 
During its founding for 24 years, CANGO has developed project cooperation with 182 foreign NGOs and bilateral and multilateral organizations, which are maintained through its day-to-day operations. Till the end of 2015, CANGO has raised a total of 900 million RMB from 98 donor agencies from 21 countries or regions for project implementation. The total match funds amounted to 533 million RMB. Almost 122 poverty Counties from 31 Provinces, Autonomous Regions and Municipalities were involved in the projects covered poverty alleviation, women's development, environmental protection, health care and other fields. Project beneficiaries reached 7.5 million RMB. Till now CANGO has 60 existing domestic and foreign cooperative institutions, the scale of project capital expenditure is 70 million RMB one year. 
CANGO is charged by the Ministry of Commerce. The Secretariat is managed by the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges of the Ministry of Commerce. CANGO sets up 6 departments, including public relations department, project management department, training and capacity training department, international department, research department, financial department; and 2 funds Green Commuting Fund and Shih Wing Ching Rural Development Fund; and 1 committee, Chinese Parent-Teacher Association for Cooperation and Management.
